1. Shardool Vikram’s Journey: From Confusion to Confidence

Shardool Vikram Ji comes from Bhikhapura Village in Varanasi District, a family of traditional farmers. Like many in his village, he had inherited his land, but not the knowledge that could make it thrive. Before the training, Ravi had no real understanding of what kind of crops to grow, which seeds were of better quality, or how organic farming even worked. He followed whatever little advice came his way, often from local traders or middlemen, but it led him nowhere.

When it came to selling his produce, things were worse. The middlemen would dictate the price, take the produce on credit, and sometimes never return the full amount. Vikram ji worked hard, but the money never came in time. He had no voice, no power in the market. Farming felt like a losing battle.

That changed when he heard about Chandrashekhar Singh Foundation’s “Farm to Market” training.

Curious and hopeful, he registered for the program. What followed was a turning point. For the first time, Vikram ji learned not just how to farm, but how to lead his farming journey like an entrepreneur. He understood the importance of choosing the right variety, and how organic farming wasn’t just healthier — it was more profitable and sustainable in the long run.

But the most life-changing lesson came when he realized that he could market his produce himself. With the guidance of the CSSF team, he learned about branding, packaging, pricing, and direct sales. He was no longer at the mercy of middlemen.

What touched him deeply was the kind of support he received. Vikram ji says,

“They didn’t treat me like a trainee. They treated me like a brother. Even when I wanted to set up my own seed processing plant, they helped me without seeing me as competition. That’s rare. That’s what family does.”

Today, Vikram ji is not just a farmer. He’s a manufacturer and a marketer. Through the Farmer Producer Organization, they have set their own Seed Processing Plant. He grows organic produce, markets and sells them on his own, and even exports his mangoes to international markets. He has set up his own seed plant and now supports other farmers with quality inputs.

His income has grown. His confidence has grown even more. His family lives better. And most importantly, he no longer sees farming as a struggle — he sees it as an opportunity.

Vikram ji often tells young farmers,

“Yes, farming is hard work. But today, with the right direction and technology, it’s also smart work. Don’t run away from the soil. Run towards it like I did. I’m standing where I am today because CSSF showed me the way.”

2. When the Soil Found Its Voice: The Journey of Sanjay Singh

In the quiet village of Varanasi, lived a farmer whose story echoes across countless corners of rural India, a man named Sanjay Singh.

For over four decades, Sanjay ji toiled tirelessly on his ancestral land. Farming wasn’t just his profession — it was his identity, his faith, his legacy. Yet, despite the dedication, his fields often gave back less than what he poured into them. Unpredictable rains, rising input costs, and shrinking profits had become a painful norm. Middlemen dictated prices, and his hard work felt trapped in a cycle of dependence and diminishing returns.

Still, he held on — to hope, to soil, to survival.

But hope truly took root the day CSSF entered his life. At first, Sanjay ji was skeptical. Change isn't easy, especially when it's asking you to unlearn what you've followed for generations. But something within nudged him to attend the training. And that one decision changed his journey forever.

He found a new way to see farming. A new way to see himself.

Through CSSF’s training, he learned:
  • How natural farming could restore both land and livelihood.
  • The importance of line-to-line and plant-to-plant spacing.
  • How to build soil health rather than just fight symptoms.
  • The power of processing, branding, and marketing his own produce.
  • And most importantly, that he could be more than just a grower — he could be an entrepreneur.

Armed with this knowledge, Sanjay ji transformed his fields.

He reduced chemical usage. He adopted sustainable practices.

He began processing his own crops, no longer selling raw wheat at ₹22–₹30/kg, but delivering high-quality, value-added produce to the market at a fair price.

For the first time in years, he wasn’t just earning — he was thriving.

Where once he stood in the shadows of market agents, today he negotiates with pride and power.

Where once the land was weary, today the soil breathes life again.

Where once he waited on the mercy of rains, today he cultivates resilience.

Sanjay ji often reflects,

“This is not just about income. It's about dignity. The CSSF didn’t just train me — they transformed me. Today, I don’t just farm, I lead.”

But perhaps the most beautiful part of Sanjay ji’s story is this: He didn’t just uplift his own life. Because when a farmer is empowered, an entire village rises.

3. Jai Shankar Singh’s Journey: From Tradition to Transformation

In the quiet fields of Manjhwa village, Mirzapur, Jai Shankar Singh spent nearly five decades nurturing the soil, just as his ancestors did. Farming was not just his livelihood — it was his identity. Yet, despite his hard work, he felt trapped in a cycle that never seemed to change.

For years, his farming methods were dependent on the whims of the monsoon. Without access to modern equipment, he ploughed his fields using bullocks, a process that drained both time and energy. The lack of reliable water sources, quality seeds, and fertilizers meant that every harvest was a gamble. His income barely met the family’s basic needs — covering education, food, and survival. There was no surplus, no savings, no growth — just survival.

Jai Shankar often wondered if this was the only way. Could farming ever become a source of prosperity rather than just sustenance?

That hope ignited when he learned about the Chandrashekhar Singh Foundation (CSSF) and their training program on modern and natural farming techniques. With curiosity and a quiet determination, he joined.

What followed was nothing short of a life-changing journey.

For the first time, he was introduced to concepts like line farming, intensive cultivation, and natural farming methods that not only increased productivity but also preserved soil health. The training sessions were simple, practical, and filled with real-life examples that made even the most complex techniques easy to understand.

He learned about organic manure, composting, and animal husbandry skills that seemed beyond his reach before. Jai Shankar also discovered the power of value addition: turning milk from his cows into ghee, curd, paneer, and selling them at higher prices. The idea of diversifying income sources through goat rearing, buffalo farming, and mushroom cultivation opened new doors he never knew existed.

Most importantly, he realized he didn’t have to rely on middlemen anymore. CSSF taught him how to connect directly with markets, sell his produce confidently, and secure fair prices. His income began to grow because of better yields and better choices.

In his words,

“CSSF didn’t just give me knowledge; they gave me a new life. I used to farm in the dark, but now I see the path clearly. I want every farmer to learn what I have learned, so they too can transform their lives.”

Jai Shankar Singh’s journey is a testament to the power of knowledge, innovation, and support. His story inspires farmers everywhere to believe that change is possible, no matter where you begin.

4. Breaking Barriers: Krishnamohan Singh’s Journey to Empowered Farming

Krishnamohan Singh

Transformed through Chandrashekhar Singh Foundation’s Training in Modern and Natural Farming

For over 60 years, Krishnamohan Singh had known only one way of life: farming. Born and raised in Kalaktapur, he followed in the footsteps of his ancestors, practicing traditional farming methods—ploughing fields with bullocks, using wooden tools, and relying on natural rains for irrigation. Life in the village was simple, but not easy.

Every harvest was a gamble. Without access to modern seeds or fertilizers, yields were low. The hard work never matched the returns. Selling the produce in local markets was another challenge trapped in a system where middlemen and traders dictated prices. There were days when the income barely covered the family's basic needs.

Everything changed when he heard about the Chandrashekhar Singh Foundation (CSSF) and their training on modern and natural farming practices. Curious yet hesitant, he joined the program and what followed was nothing short of a transformation.

For the first time, he learned how modern tools, improved seeds, and scientific techniques could change the game. The sessions were simple, practical, and eye-opening. CSSF introduced him to new ways of farming—line sowing, mixed cropping, and organic methods that not only improved the soil but also increased yield.

But the learning didn’t stop at farming. The training opened his eyes to new income opportunities like goat rearing, beekeeping, mustard oil production, and fish farming. It taught him how to add value to what he produced. Inspired, Krishnamohan set up a flour mill at home, turning wheat into flour and selling it directly in the market earning much better margins than before.

With time, his confidence grew. He started selling his produce directly to the market, bypassing middlemen, and securing better prices. His farming became more sustainable, more profitable, and above all, more fulfilling.

Krishnamohan says,

“Earlier, I thought farming meant hard labor, but now I know farming is smart work too. CSSF showed me that with the right knowledge, I can grow, earn, and help others too.”

His life is no longer about just survival. He sees himself as a provider, a contributor to his family, community, and the soil he loves so deeply.

Krishnamohan’s message to fellow farmers is clear:

“Don't be afraid of change. Learn new methods, try new things. Farming is our future, but only if we do it smartly. CSSF has been a guiding light—this knowledge should reach every farmer in India.”

Krishnamohan has shown that with the right tools and mindset, even the oldest traditions can evolve and so can lives.
